MWM007 || The Ebertbrothers - Engine Eyes
Following the critical success of their debut full-length, the Berlin-based duo Axel and Michael Ebert returned in 2012 with the Engine Eyes EP. The release functions as both an extension of their sonic universe and a collaborative reimagining of their previous work, featuring four original compositions alongside three high-profile remixes by Lackluster, Badun, and Karsten Pflum.
Spanning 35 minutes, the EP navigates the tension between melodic warmth and abrasive, “crunchy” sound design. The Ebertbrothers maintain their signature cinematic perspective, shifting from the delirium of deep, atmospheric textures to the impulsive energy of the closing track, “Learning to Walk.” By integrating the diverse remix styles of their contemporaries into their own dark, avant-garde framework, the duo further solidified their position as key figures in the European experimental electronic scene.
