Official Announcement & Tribute || Sofus Forsberg
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we share news that is almost impossible to put into words. Last night, our dear friend, visionary artist, and pioneer of the Nordic electronica movement, Sofus Forsberg, passed away.
Words are not enough to describe the void he leaves behind in our community and in our hearts. Sofus was so much more than just a master of sound design—he was a gentle, brilliant soul who brought warmth, humor, and boundless curiosity to every room he entered.
To know Sofus was to experience someone who was in a perfect, joyful dialogue with music. A true trendsetter, his work bridged the gap between human emotion and mechanical precision with effortless grace. Whether he was coaxing soul from modular systems, shaping complex rhythms on analog drum machines, or commanding live stages with pure, spontaneous energy, he reminded us that electronic music, at its best, is deeply human.
His release with us, “FM Volta,” as well as his entire body of work on the international stage, bears witness to his unrivaled artistry—rhythmically daring, emotionally captivating, and timeless.
We would like to invite everyone to download his final studio album, “FM Volta,” free of charge via our Bandcamp page and to remember the man whom many referred to as “the legend.”
Sofus, thank you for the soundscapes you gave us, for the late-night conversations, the laughter, and the tireless passion you had for your craft. You didn’t just play synthesizer loops; you created soundscapes that transformed everyone who listened to them.
Even though your physical presence has now faded beyond the horizon, your frequencies, your spirit, and your legacy will echo forever through our sound systems and memories. Our deepest affection, our thoughts, and our sincere condolences go out to Sofus’s family, his loved ones, and everyone around the world whose lives were touched by his music and his friendship.
Rest in peace amongst the stars, dear Sofus. Thank you for everything.
