The second Mindcast of 2018 is the mixtape debut of Dutch sound nerd EXM. Jeroen Bax aka exm started making electronic music at the tender age of ten, using old tape recorders, cheap echo units and an ancient PC in his search for strange and interesting sounds — an obsession that has stayed with him ever since.
His broad taste formed the platform for early experiments with dub styles, drum&bass and acid, but it was the music of experimental artists such as Autechre and Aphex Twin that made his spatial, atmospheric sound take shape. More powerful computers and software gave him the tools to craft it, yet Jeroen still uses a variety of techniques and instruments and refuses to be tied down to one process.
