Mindcast.38 || Midori Hirano

MIDORI HIRANO is a Berlin-based musician, composer and producer. She started learning piano as a child and later studied classical piano at university, so her productions are built on acoustic instruments such as piano, strings and guitar, blended with modern digital sounds, subtle electronic processing and field recordings into an experimental, eclectic mixture.

She released two albums on noble; her second, “klo:yuri” (2008), developed her sound further and drew critical acclaim from media including TIME magazine, BBC radio and FACT Magazine. Over the following years she performed live throughout Europe and Japan, and her third album “Minor Planet” was released on sonic pieces in September 2016. Besides her own work she composes music for films, video installations and dance performances; films with her commissioned works have been screened at the Berlin International Film Festival, Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, Krakow Film Festival and Hong Kong International Film Festival, among others.
