G.DUBS03 || Winchester – Liquid Crystal State
With Liquid Crystal State, Winchester (the artist formerly known as Wedge) returns to the forefront with a four-track EP that bridges the gap between his Bristol dubstep roots and his tenure in experimental sound design. Taking inspiration from the microscopic architecture of LCD screens—their labyrinthine circuits and crystalline grids—the EP serves as a sonic exploration of technological decay and perceptual distortion.
The release is a collision of high-pressure UK bass, jungle, and footwork, refined through an industrial lens. Winchester translates fragments of data and electrical interference into raw, break-driven rhythms that possess a sculptural, almost physical precision. Drawing on the genre-defying experience of his previous collaborations (such as Dot Product with Raiden and Wrecked Lightship with Appleblim), Winchester creates a soundscape designed for both the club and the psyche. Liquid Crystal State is an invitation into a disorienting digital maze, further cementing the G.Dubs series as a home for innovative, bass-centric avant-garde.
